Global Appraisal of Individual Needs – Short Screener (GAIN-SS): Administration and Scoring Manual Version 3 The GAIN-SS is a screen used to quickly flag those with internalizing & externalizing, and substance abuse disorders. The screening materials are available freely on the GAIN webpage. To use the GAIN-SS results publicly, you must purchase a license and sign a data sharing agreement, however a free 30-day trial is available on their website as well. Updated Priorities Among Effective Clinical Preventive This study claims that prioritizing the utilization of screening and brief intervention can greatly reduce the disease burden, including both the quality and the quantity of life lived by tobacco users, those misusing alcohol and adults and adolescents struggling with depression. Substance Abuse Treatment for Persons with Child Abuse and Neglect Issues The document focuses on the effects of childhood abuse and neglect perpetrated by family members and the intergenerational transmission of the cycle of substance abuse and child abuse and neglect. It acknowledges that not all clients in treatment have a history of childhood abuse, not all children who are maltreated become substance abusers or child abusers, and not all child abusers have a history of childhood abuse or current substance abuse.
